Spanish in a Month: Vocabulary App Reviews

14 Customer Reviews:

I have seen a few different languages lerning softwares in my time, this one is one of the better ones. Its interface is simple to use and learning does come easily. For the price ($3.99) it has been, and continues to be, well worth it. I would refer a friend to buy this over most other programs. Good job Elky Entertainment.

Ever since I updated to Mountain Lion, this hasnt been working! Whenever I try to open the application, a blank window just pops up saying "English in a month" … Not even "Spanish in a month" Please update!

This is well designed and extremely useful for learning the basic vocabulary necessary to learn Spanish. The lessons are fun and easy to master. I have used Rosetta Stone before and this software offers a similar training method at a fraction of the price. I am very happy for this purchase and Ill buy all future products by this company. I hope they come up with an Advanced version.

The flow gets mucked up by trying to find the accents on the keyboard. Sure the virtual keyboard shows them but its such a pain that its really counter productive. And why do I need to really know how to spell to Giraffe over and over again?

I like this format, as it allows you to hear and see the words by two different speakers with slightly different accents. HOWEVER, what I find a little annoying is that in the writing section there is no special character function to allow you to spell the word correctly so you are always getting the spelling wrong, even though you know it, but just can’t do the special character. This should not be the case with a paid app. The sooner you can remedy this, the sooner you get my five star rating!

The screens move too fast. There are multiple things in the image so matching up the spanish gets weird. Also the goal seem to do spanish spelling for the answers. I think you might do better on utube.

I decided to ignore the previous review and try this app. Im glad I did. I do have some experience with Spanish (including at very expensive attempt with Rosetta Stone) and have found that nothing really helped me retain the vocabulary and speak full sentences properly. The lessons in the app are quick (around ten minutes per lesson) which make it easy to pick up throughout the day. I usully do the speaking part of the lesson once at night and once the following morning, then I do the writing lesson in the evening. The lessons also build upon previous learned vocabulary which also helps me retain the words. For $5 you cant go wrong, and it is a much cheaper alternative to other language learning apps out there. For words that I cant pick out from the pictures, I use Google Translate, but those a few and far between. The only problem I have is that someone needs to edit the app. There are some typos and grammar mistakes that can be frustrating when you are typing the sentences correctly and you are told it is in correct due to a typo.

It was actually a really good app, although some of the pictures are esentially the same. butttttt, mountain lion made this not open fpr me. it came blank and said english in a month. initially i thought that the app was just downloaded wrong or something. so i deleted it and reinstalled it and it didnt work. that is why io believe mountain lion ruins this. so dont buy it until they fix this! thanks

Unless you speak Spanish fluently, you wont find this app useful. I was stunned to discover there is no English translation for the lessons. Simply put. Dont buy it. Im assuming the developers friends rated the app.

The app is perfect not only if you speak Spanish for 10 years, but also for beginners. Check out the difficulty level - you learn colours, seasons, family members, hobbies, flora&fauna… Doesnt seem too hard, I guess. Of course this memorization tasks couldnt give you the whole language environment - grammar, word order things you have to learn by yourselves. As for me, I found this app very useful while studying Spanish with teacher. I learn words faster and they dont slip off my mind after I close the app. This app is not a magic tool that makes you speak Spanish from the 1st lesson, but its a good assistant if you take the learning of foreign language seriously.

Theres no manual or instructions or interpretation, and without those things this application is almot useless. Save your money and try something else. I tried contacting Support and had no response from the company after three tries.

This program really is incredible, it allows you to learn Spanish the way you learned your first language, by using images and allowing you to fill in the missing pieces, thanks to this program Ive managed to learn how to speak Spanish with confidence and more fluency, rather than spending hours conjugating a single verb definitely a must have for anyone who is truly serious about learning spanish.

At first I thought the same as some of the negative feedbacks, no english transalation pure spanish. But after half way through the first lesson, I started to identify with the pictures from previous quizzes. By the end of the first lesson, I knew exactly what each word is trying to say. Great program, I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn spanish.

This is the worst app ever. There are no instructions, it doesnt move from one page to the next. And it doesnt tell you the english meaning of the word so how on earth are you supposed to know what the spanish words mean? Yes there are photos and I happen to know a fair amount of spanish but you cant always tell what the picture is referring to so you have NO idea what you are learning. Maybe its just me or its not compatible with a Mac but I cant get beyond the first lesson. This is why we should just spend the $$ on Rosetta Stone, lesson learned.
